Join our Citizens’ Assembly

Posted: 23/01/12

We are hosting a citizens’ assembly next Tuesday at The Southbank Centre (London) that will explore and debate ideas to put the public interest back into the heart of public life. Will you be part of it?

We have a fantastic line up of speakers to spark off the debate including Alan Rusbridger, editor of the Guardian, Jude Kelly, Artistic Director, Southbank Centre, Richard Sennett, writer and academic, author of The Fall of Public Man and Danni Paffard, UK Uncut.

The speakers will each have five minutes to provoke discussion and then it’s over to you to deliberate and discuss how we restore the public interest. There are a limited number of places and given the high profile line-up we would ask that if you would like to attend that you register by using the link below.

The concept of the public has been systematically eroded over the past four decades, replaced by private and corporate interests. What was good for them was deemed good for all. But from banking to politicians and the media that has been shown to be false. Now is the time to re-imagine a new public realm and restore the public interest back into British life.

From Lord Leveson to Sir John Vickers and from David Cameron to Ed Miliband the great and the good are starting a conversation about how to restore the public interest into media, politics and banking but only the public can decide what is in the public interest.

That’s why it’s so important that you join us next week, visit to register
